From the first article to AI engines linking it on 28 of 40 buyer questions in 4 months.
A payments company for merchants other processors turn away published 164 answers to the questions those merchants ask. AI engines now link it on 28 of the 40 questions we track.
When Stripe or Shopify Payments shuts a store down, the owner asks an AI assistant what to do next. So does a peptide seller looking for a processor, and a subscription business that keeps getting declined. Seamless Chex offers credit card and ACH processing to exactly these merchants, so it needed to be in those answers. From late June we published articles on the questions they ask: how peptide sellers get approved, what to do when a processor freezes your funds, recurring billing approvals, NACHA rules for business ACH. By late October there were 164. In the two weeks to October 24, AI engines linked Seamless Chex on 28 of the 40 questions we track, and more than half of the answers that linked it in October pointed to an article we wrote.
The challenge
- A market where the questions are specific and urgent: a frozen balance, a closed account, a product the big processors will not touch.
- On broad high-risk processing questions, AI answers rarely linked Seamless Chex: 0 to 2 links in the first 20 to 31 answers we recorded.
- No articles from us yet. The first went live on June 25.
How we did it
- 01
Chose the questions turned-away merchants ask
40 questions across the markets Seamless Chex serves: peptides, GLP-1 and nutraceuticals, subscriptions, online gambling, trading card breaks, and stores shut down by Stripe or Shopify Payments.
- 02
Published about 10 articles a week
43 in July, 42 in August, 44 in September. Each one answers a single question: can you sell peptides on Stripe, how peptide sellers get approved, what to do when a processor holds your funds, how subscription businesses get approved for recurring billing.
- 03
Asked the AI engines every week
We put the same 40 questions to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews every week and record which sites each answer links. In the two weeks to October 24 they linked Seamless Chex in 393 answers.
- 04
Followed what gets cited
Since October 1 the most-linked articles we wrote are "Peptide Payment Processor: How Sellers Get Approved" (75 answers) and "Can You Sell Peptides on Stripe Without Getting Shut Down" (63). New articles go where the links are thinnest.
Key AEO tactics applied
- Answer-first articles on the questions turned-away merchants ask
- Deep dives on approval rules: LegitScript, reserves, NACHA
- About 10 articles a week, every week since late June
- The same 40 questions put to four AI engines every week
Why it worked
When a question is urgent and specific, AI engines look for a page that answers exactly that question. Perplexity found ours first and gives two thirds of the links. ChatGPT links the site least, so that is where the next work goes. Not every topic has moved yet: on broad questions such as the best card processors of 2026, and on the newer trading card questions, AI engines still link other sites.
“We knew we needed to be first in AEO, and we knew how important AEO is for our website's survival. We just needed to find the right company to implement it for us. We did.”
